THE PLACE OF INFORMATION (4)                 The truth is that it is not just being informed that matters but being informed with the right information. I would have been wallowing in pain each time I went for lectures because I was wrongly informed. It is true I had some information about how the shuttle services in my school operate but that information was not the right one. Quality information is the cure to sweatless achievements. The more the quality of the information you possess are, the higher the tendency of a sweatless pursuit. Go for QUALITY information! Sometimes, getting the right information might require that you travel a long distance or engage in an inconvenient activity. This is where most people usually shy away. They see this exercise as a waste of time. They do not consider its result. They also do not consider the immense potentials inherent in it. You can do so much when you are rightly informed. In whatever vocation or endeavour you may find yourself,

THE PLACE OF INFORMATION (3)                 The farther I go in life, the more I appreciate the invaluable benefits of being informed. My daily experiences have unveiled numerous possibilities inherent in the acquisition of quality information. One of the memorable experiences that led to my daily pursuit for quality information and hatred for ignorance took place last year in February 2013. After gaining admission in the University of Cape Town, it is normal to be excited about it. However, my excitement was cut short because I was yet to complete my registration; hence, I had not gotten a student’s ID card (which is the official proof that you are a student of any school).                 Anyone that is familiar with UCT knows that the Main Campus is structured into three campuses (Lower, Middle and Upper). To get to the Upper Campus, you will go through Lower and Middle Campus, especially if you are coming from Mowbray/Rondebosch axis. As a new student, that was the only r
THE PLACE OF INFORMATION (2)                 Our society today is knowledge-driven. To fit in, you must possess a ‘considerable amount’ of knowledge. You must understand that you determine this ‘considerable amount’. There are so many variables that can affect your ability of amassing information but always you are the constant . Variables will always change but constants remain the same. Therefore, every individual, to a very large extent, determines the amount of knowledge the possess. Also, the quality of the information you possess determines your placement in the society.                 Nothing increases frustration like ignorance. Like the popular maxim, if you are not informed, you are deformed. Information keeps you from being deformed. Hence, we can say the information is the cure for deformation. A deformed individual is one whose mind has been maimed, disfigured, impaired, spoiled and marred . Such a person lacks the power to think creatively. In that situation, the
THE PLACE OF INFORMATION                 The development of a nation is directly proportional to the mental strength of its people. A people with creative mental ability produce a developed nation. Hence, the destiny of a nation lies in the hands of its people. No nation can build itself. It is the responsibility of its people to build it. Suffice me to say that any under-developed nation has itself to blame and the developed nations have their people to thank. In the light of the above, we can simply assert that our mental capacity as a people has kept Africa the way it is currently.                 One of the ways of going forward and developing this continent of ours is for us to fill our mind with the right information. Information in this context can be seen as knowledge. No person can act beyond what they know. In fact, the difference between two or more individuals in simply the quality of information they possess. The more quality the knowledge you possess is, the more
THE POWER OF THE MIND (3)             Personally, I believe that the best and most important asset in the human body is the mind. This is because it is responsible for every action we take. In other words, our mind determines, to a large extent, what comes to us and what we become in life. Therefore, it is very necessary to keep our mind active and productive.             The importance of the mind is held in high esteem in our world today in that an individual is addressed by the state of their mind. That is to say, you are your mind and your mind is you. A perfect example is seen during any census exercise embarked upon by countries. During this exercise, people whose minds are deranged are not counted because they are seen as unproductive citizens. Their minds are ‘dead’ and this automatically makes them unproductive. Furthermore, when an individual has lost their mind, they are not taken seriously because the instrument necessary for facilitating their speech and actions i
THE POWER OF THE MIND (2)             Having discovered that the mind differentiates us (humans) from other living creatures, it is expected that we utilise the potentials of the mind to its maximum. Every action embarked upon is a product of the mind (whether consciously or unconsciously). The main reason why the African continent has been held back in terms of development is simply because its people have not maximised the potentials that are inherent in their mind. We have failed in way or the other to engage our mind productively. We have also forgotten that it is our personal responsibility to stir our mind productively else it will remain dormant and inactive. Remember, an inactive mind can never be productive.             Our approaches to issues differ. In fact, the way through which we perceive the problems, challenges, tests and situations that surface around us on a daily basis determines how we put our mind to work. That is to say, if your mind tells you that a pa
